The Overstory

This novel tells the story of a disparate group of humans who turn out to be connected to each other and to trees in unexpected ways. This fascinating story is worth reading on its own, but also provides a capstone to this year’s theme of Sustainability, Environment, and Diversity by bringing all these themes together in one work.
NB: This reading is considerably longer than the assignments of previous quarters. We suggest that students start their reading well in advance to be ready for the class discussion.
