About the Event

Join us at 6:00 p.m. CT on May 15th to learn more about UChicago’s upcoming Residential Seminar, An Epic Week with Homer. Designed for lifelong learners looking to dive deep into the Homeric works and works inspired by these ancient classics. Read more about this residential seminar on the program page.

An immersive, on-campus educational experience, this August 2024 course will be taught by David Wray, an associate professor in the Department of Classics, the Department of Comparative Literature, and the College at the University of Chicago. He is the author of Catullus and the Poetics of Roman Manhood (Cambridge 2001), a coeditor of Seneca and the Self (Cambridge 2009), and is currently writing Ovid at the Tragic Core of Modernity.

Over the course of a week, from August 4th – 9th, learners will dive deep into the Homeric works, have lunch with eminent faculty, tour the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood and campus (including the Regenstein Library’s collection of ancient Homeric manuscripts), and connect with peers via daily events.

Participate in a live discussion with David Wray and Dean of the Graham School Seth Green to learn more.
