About the Event

Since 1946, the Basic Program of Liberal Education for Adults at the University of Chicago has engaged lifelong learners in reading, discussing, and building community around foundational texts through small, instructor-led groups. Starting in 2015, we began offering two-year Alumni Sequences created on the same curricular model, each centered around a specific theme and mixture of texts building on the conversation begun in the four-year Core Curriculum. This fall, a new Alumni Sequence will launch, extending the pedagogy of close reading and discussion to fundamental texts of several Asian classical traditions.

Cohorts of Basic Program alumni will form in Autumn Quarter in both online and in-person sections. To learn more about the new Alumni Sequence: Asian Classical Traditions, please join us for an hour-long, interactive information session led by Basic Program Instructor, Stephen Walker, who also led the curriculum team for the new sequence.
