We are delighted to welcome you to join us at the 19th National Museum Publishing Seminar, to be held July 9 – July 11, 2020, at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
Registration for the conference will begin in November 2019. Please check back to the site for registration information, conference schedule, and workshop information. Complete details will be available by January 2020.
Begun as a small seminar in 1989, the NMPS has become a vibrant biennial conference, welcoming professionals from the museum publishing world and beyond.
The NMPS Mission: As repositories of the nation’s cultural, historic, and scientific resources, museums are in a unique position to develop specialized publications that reflect their educational missions and collections. Museum publication programs serve many purposes: scholarly, documentary, and informational. The purpose of the National Museum Publishing Seminar is to foster rigorous, informed conversations on the role of museum publishing, and its products, today.
Please join us in offering the 2020 NMPS Planning Committee a warm welcome. We look forward to presenting our research and content at our upcoming conference.
Speakers and attendees are drawn from the publications, digital media, and marketing departments at art, science, and history museums, as well as academics and professionals from university presses, small publishers, and design firms. They are joined by sponsors and exhibitors who serve museums and their needs by providing paper, printing, photographic expertise, design, writing, editing, packaging, web design, and other services.
The NMPS hosts panels, workshops, discussions, and social meals and activities over the course of three intensive days, Thursday – Saturday. An optional private tour or event is typically offered to registrants on the Sunday following the conference.
The National Museum Publishing Seminar has always had a close relationship with our sponsors, and we are continuously grateful to them for joining us each year. We will send out information on exhibiting at the NMPS in the Fall of 2019. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to receive this information, please sign up using the button below. Pledge forms for exhibitors will also be available on the website by November 1, 2019. Typically, we use a first-come, first-serve approach to exhibitor table selections. Full information on the exhibitor registration process will be available soon.
