Once you have completed your certificate program, you may request a certificate.
Apply for your Degree
Degree students may apply to graduate in the same quarter in which they will be completing their curriculum requirements or in a subsequent quarter. A degree application is only valid for the quarter in which it is made. A fee of $50 will be charged for each degree application that is cancelled after the end of the fifth week of the quarter in which it is filed. Submit a degree application through the myUChicago portal at https:// myuchicago.edu and within this schedule:

Convocation Events for Degree Students
Graham School Wide Convocation Ceremony
The Graham School honors its degree and certificate candidates, and those who have received a certificate over the academic year, in an afternoon school-wide ceremony. At the ceremony, candidates march in a formal academic procession into the auditorium theater at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts. They are then photographed as each is formally awarded a degree or certificate. Afterwards, the celebration continues at a reception.
Friends and family of candidates are welcome to attend.

As a courtesy to candidates, families, and friends, please:
- Refrain from loud conversation during the ceremony
- Children must be accompanied by a parent or other adult who will be responsible for their behavior during the ceremony and reception
The Graham School’s Degree and Certificate Award Ceremony and reception will take place at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts located at:
915 East 60th Street
Chicago, IL 60637
The Logan Center's north entrance is located on East 60th Street, and the south entrance can be accessed by a circular drive on South Drexel Avenue.
Tickets are not required.
- Who is eligible to participate?
- Degree students who have completed their program in the 2014 spring quarter by June 6
- Certificate students who have completed their program (or will complete it) between June 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014
By completed, candidates fulfill all curricular requirements, including having received passing grades for graded courses, and passed, when applicable, all prescribed examinations. Certificate students who expect to complete their program by June 30th, but who have not completed it by June 1, will receive a blank certificate at the ceremony and an official certificate once their program of study is completed.
- How do I check my program’s requirements?
Consult your program’s web pages or contact your program staff.
- What is appropriate attire?
Convocation is a formal and traditional ceremony. We ask that candidates wear attire and adornment that is appropriate for the occasion. Degree recipients should plan on wearing the robes worn at the University’s morning ceremony.
- Can I bring guests?
We welcome friends and family. If you haven’t already, you can let us know how many guests will be attending when you RSVP.
- How do I order the photographs?
We will photograph candidates receiving their diplomas. Approximately two weeks after the ceremony, graduates will receive information by mail. There is no obligation to purchase.
- Do you need accommodations?
Candidates with disabilities who need accommodations and candidates who need arrangements for religious or cultural reasons should contact Vanessa Georg at email@example.com or 773.834.0159 before May 19. For candidates with limited mobility, we do not supply wheelchairs.
- When should I arrive?
We’ll start seating guests in the auditorium at 10:00 am. Be sure to arrive no later than 11:45 am as the procession will begin shortly after.
- Are there seating reservations?
We seat guests on a first come, first serve basis. There are no tickets needed.
- Do you need accommodations?
Guests with disabilities who need accommodations and candidates who need arrangements for religious or cultural reasons should contact Vanessa Georg at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773.834.0159 before May 19. For guests with limited mobility, we do not supply wheelchairs. We can, however, offer reserved seating closest to the Handicap entrance.
