MScTRM Crisis Stories | Jill: Hospital IT Outage

Hear from Jill Benson Ramaker, executive director of the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy and alumna of our Master of Science in Threat and Response Management program, as she shares one of her most difficult cases and the lessons she learned from it.

When a hospital faced total technology failure, Jill’s team acted quickly to assure patients and their families that although the source of the problem was unknown, the team was working together in order to provide the care that they needed. From this experience, Jill’s team identified policies that will help their efforts if a similar situation should occur and how staff training can enhance their capability to respond effectively by reducing anxiety.
