Andrew Burt presented his talk “Regulating Artificial Intelligence: How to Control the Unexplainable” on April 12—this talk looks into the major issues that will influence regulations around data and artificial intelligence.
“I was excited about the opportunity to teach in the MLA program. I saw it as an opportunity to push my teaching beyond what I do at SSA. My MLA class is a little more theoretical and open-ended than the typical classes I teach. It’s less focused on developing skills and more involved in fostering discussion around texts that engage the topic of mental health.”

Kicking off the Art Speaks lecture series, a University of Chicago Graham School partnership with the Terra Foundation, David Travis presented “Taken By Design: Photography at Chicago’s Institute of Design” in which he documented how a European approach to educating artists shaped America’s attitude toward photography as a fine art. Held at the Chicago Cultural Center, the evening was introduced by Fred Beuttler, assistant dean of Liberal Arts at the Graham School, who gave an overview of the yearlong series.
