Outbreak: Adventures and Lessons Learned in Field Epidemiology

Gleacher Center

450 N Cityfront Plaza

Chicago, IL 60647

Join the Master of Science in Threat and Response Management program to discuss the most infamous type of field epidemiology investigation–the outbreak. MScTRM instructor Mark Dworkin will walk through the steps that guide outbreak investigation and discuss two illustrative examples of outbreaks that he has worked on in very different settings (a wrestling team and a state institution for the developmentally disabled) with very different objectives and methods. He will also present the epidemiological origins of an intervention proposed for development in a population in India, illustrating the intersection of qualitative methods with epidemiology.
