The instructors leading the Digital Marketing and Integrated Communications courses bring their extensive experience, expertise, and professional networks to our students from every corner of Chicago’s marketing community.
Our marketing instructors work with brands that demand global attention, at agencies that consistently produce outstanding work, and with the mandate to constantly develop groundbreaking marketing strategies that meaningfully engage audiences. They coach our students towards building successful careers as omnichannel marketing professionals. Students learn and practice skills in digital and social media marketing, market research and analysis, media planning, public relations, and brand development.
Michael Bloom is a Director of Customer Experience for Teletrac Navman—a global telematics SaaS company. Bloom brings 23 years of progressive marketing and product management experience to his professional endeavors.
Bloom’s education began with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Albion College. Later, he matriculated with a certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Chicago. In 2018, Bloom received a Master of Science degree in Product Design and Development from Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering. The two-year, highly rigorous and unique curriculum has a foundation in Design Thinking and teaches core competencies in: creativity, lean design, design strategy, product innovation, end-user research, supply chain, marketing, project and product management, as well as business and finance.
Today, in addition leading Customer Experience and corporate strategy at Teletrac Navman, Bloom is an adjunct professor teaching Integrated Marketing Communications at the University of Chicago and Product Design at Stanford University. He also serves as a consulting expert witness in marketing and trademark-related cases.
Miriam is Principal of Tiny Windows Consulting, a nonprofit communications and strategy consultancy dedicated to helping mission-driven leaders make the world a kinder, braver, more curious place through asking bigger questions and telling smaller stories. Before launching Tiny Windows in 2018, Miriam spent 12 years working inside nonprofits including running the Jewish TED-style platform ELI Talks (as its first Program Director). As Chief Innovation Officer of See3 Communications, she consulted with a wide range of organizations including Make-A-Wish America, the BUILD Initiative, and the Alzheimer's Association.
In her frequent collaborations with Lisa Colton of Darim Online, Miriam helps legacy organizations understand and adapt to the demands of the digital age, and design and implement digital storytelling that supports on-the-ground community-building. Miriam is a member of the ROI Network of young Jewish innovators and was named to the New York Jewish Week's "36 Under 36" list in 2013, and to Chicago's "Double Chai in the Chi" list in 2019. She is the cohost of the podcast "Throwing Sheyd" and spent several years as the lead singer/songwriter of Stereo Sinai.
Miriam holds an MAJPS from Spertus Institute, a certificate in Storytelling for Influence from IDEO, and a certificate in Content Marketing from Hubspot. Her writing has appeared in Crackerjack Marketing, NPEngage, Beth's Blog, and other prominent nonprofit publications. Miriam is mom to two beautiful boys and spends her free time reading, drinking too much coffee, and roller skating.
Ilan is an independent marketing and branding consultant serving clients in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East from his office in Chicago. He has held prior executive marketing positions at Ogilvy & Mather where he was Design Head and Creative Director in Johannesburg, Los Angeles, and Chicago. He was VP Exec. Creative Director at Kragie/Newell (now Integer) and VP Creative Director at Gage Marketing. He currently runs Ilan Geva & Friends, a branding consultancy in Chicago.
Ilan develops and creates Brand platforms including brand vision, brand strategy, brand personality, using every imaginable strategic branding solution for many of the world’s largest corporations, as well as for smaller enterprises. His work has won over 100 awards around the world including CLIO, ADDY, TELLY, POPAI, CAPLES, ECHO, SUMMIT, ADRIAN and many others. Some of his most recognized work included brands such as: McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Visa, Ford Trucks, The Chicago Tribune, SA Breweries, Panasonic, Nestle, American Express, Unilever, VW-Audi, Kodak, HP, Seagram, Shell, Sears, Citibank, Jahn and many more. His specific tourism, travel and hospitality experience includes: Israel Ministry of Tourism, Turkey Tourism, South African Tourism, British Tourist Authority, Mexico Tourism Board, State of Iowa Tourism, Lisbon Convention Bureau, United Airlines, Korean Air, Alitalia, Sheraton Hotels, King David Hotel, Doubletree Hotels, Avis, American Express Travel Services, and more.
Ilan has a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and a Masters degree from DePaul University in Chicago. He also graduated from the Damelin College of Marketing in Johannesburg with a diploma in Marketing Management. He received the 2006 Graham School Excellence in Teaching Award.
As a Data & Analytics expert, Philippe Geyskens harnesses "big data" to extract insights that tie marketing spend to business result. A digital expert, Phil brings over 20 years of experience leading analytic teams across quantitative marketing projects for Fortune 500 companies, such as Allstate, General Motors, T.J.Maxx, and Sears, ranging from market mix modeling and multi-channel attribution, to CRM analytics. Philippe holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the K.U.Leuven in Belgium. He was also awarded the Belgian Government Medal for the Performing Arts.
Sherri Maxson-Goodlove is currently a Digital Strategy Consultant at 7Summits. Prior to that, she was the Senior Vice President of Digital Communications at Dairy Management (DMI), a company created to help increase sales and demand for the US dairy industry. In this role, she was responsible for building DMI’s newsroom and content publishing capability. With over 20 years of experience in digital and technology, Sherri has built and led transformational digital programs for many Fortune 500 companies including, Grainger, DeVry and US Cellular. She was also a member of the team which launched Gogo inflight internet. Sherri was named one of the top 25 social business global leaders by The Economist, and she was one of IBM’s VIP Futurists re-imagining the Future of Work.
Valeria Piaggio is the Head of Identity & Inclusion Insights at Kantar, Consulting Division. In this role, she is the conceptual leader and chief consultant on polycultural matters for U.S. MONITOR subscription insights that deliver the thought-leadership, analysis, and on-demand intelligence about the most critical emerging trends, growth segments, and opportunities in the United States marketplace. Valeria works with some of the biggest brands in the marketplace to help them grow via inclusivity; some clients include: Eli Lilly, Coca-Cola, American Cancer Society, Microsoft, MillerCoors, Disney, Univision, Moët Hennessy, Unilever, Prudential, PepsiCo, Aetna, among many others.
Before joining Kantar, Valeria spent 10 years at Iconoculture, where she was responsible for the launch of their U.S. Latino service. During her tenure, the Iconoculture Latino service grew to become its Multicultural practice. She also was instrumental in the development of the global product and was the Lead Consumer Strategist for Latin America.
Valeria is a sought-out thought leader and speaker in the diversity space, with recent engagements at Leading the Change (Univision), P&G Multicultural Media Summit, Retail Planning Conference, Unilever Hispanic Summit, Culture Marketing Summit and many others.
She started her career in Argentina, her home country, where she held various positions in the areas of education and communications.
Lindrea Reynolds is a brand strategist and creative director. She partners with dream-chasers and industry influencers to activate compelling, socially conscious brand experiences. Her primary goal is to promote social innovation and impactful values that help personal and business brands inspire change, increase profitability, boost expertise visibility, and develop profound connections.
As the Principal of LR Brand Consulting, Inc., and founder of Next Level Brand Behavior®, a platform for brand education and curated storytelling experiences, Lindrea transforms ordinary brand practices into meaningful, results-driven promises. With more than 10 years of experience in the marketing and design industries, she believes creativity and authenticity are the keys to connecting personal and business brands to their audiences.
Lindrea is a member of the Nonprofit Pro Editorial Advisory Board and Chicago Women in Philanthropy. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University and her Integrated Marketing Certification from the University of Chicago.
Brent Williams is a marketing and product professional with 10+ years of experience in both b2b and b2c spaces. Currently, he's a product manager at SonderMind, a telehealth technology company making therapy more accessible, impactful and utilized. Previously he was the GM West Coast at Clique Studios an award-winning design and marketing agency. There he was responsible for client success, hiring and market development. Before Clique, he was part of the founding team for Startup Institute Chicago where he built and operated many of the program and marketing processes still in use today. He has a master's degree in education from University of Arizona and teaches on topics ranging from analytics to product strategy all of the world.
