The Digital Marketing and Integrated Communications certificate uses real-world marketing case studies and projects to reinforce the foundational marketing knowledge that will help our learners accelerate their marketing careers. This program can be completed fully online, in person, or as a combination of both.

* Can be bypassed with adequate professional experience (5 + years of experience in a variety of marketing functions). Students who bypass Successful Marketing will complete a total of three electives to earn the certificate.

Digital Marketing and Integrated Communications students effectively:

  • Discuss basic marketing principles, including brand awareness and development
  • Develop an understanding of organizational issues and practices associated with the marketing field
  • Explore and leverage specialty areas, including marketing planning, brand development, advertising, digital marketing, social media, research, and public relations


Program Structure and Online and In-person Class Formats

  • Four required courses and two electives 
  • Classes can be taken online or in person at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago
  • Students can complete the certificate in as little as three quarters
  • Class sizes are small, ranging from 10-20 students per course
  • Two-Part, Day-Long Workshop Series: These specialized workshops come as a series of two full-day training sessions offered in person at the Gleacher Center. They are open to the general public as well as current students. Completing both parts of each workshop is equivalent to one full elective in the certificate.   • 6 weeks course length
  • Online classes meet once a week for six weeks
  • Weekly live class sessions, offered weekday evenings or Saturday mornings
  • Between the weekly synchronous sessions, participants complete required readings, assignments, and self-study activities


  • In-person classes meet twice a week for four weeks on weekday evenings (6:30–9 p.m.) plus one daytime Saturday session
  • Convenient 3-day seminar format at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago
  • Thursday–Saturday from 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
