Currently all Basic Program discussion courses are taking place remotely. Since it is a live discussion, each class meets in the virtual classroom at a set time. These courses offer the same information, same rigor, and the same instructors as our onsite discussion courses and emphasize close reading, critical thinking, and discussion. Most courses run 3 hours once a week for 10 weeks. In Summer quarter course lengths vary. The amount of reading homework in preparation for each live, interactive online class session will vary depending on the course. There are never any writing assignments or examinations. All courses are open to adults and mature teens. All readings and discussions are in English. Course times are listed for Central Time Zone.
Basic Program Core Curriculum courses are offered online. Students follow the 4-year curriculum in order, starting with Year 1 Autumn, progressing with their cohort from quarter to quarter through the program. Each section meets for 3 hours, once a week for 10 weeks. The 3-hour class block is divided into two parts, the Seminar and the Tutorial, with a 15 minute break in between. Please click the "Core Curriculum" tab in the left side menu to see the curriculum and more information about the certificate.
