The University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies is one of the oldest schools of continuing education in the country. Since 1892 the faculty and staff of the University have reached out to the broader community to offer courses, lecture series, tours, and other programs led by some of the most renowned and illustrious scholars in the world.

Students join our classes from diverse backgrounds and experiences, but all share the goal of deepening their knowledge and understanding of humanity’s greatest questions. Some come to explore philosophy and literature and to use the insights they gain to enhance their daily lives. Others want to get ahead in their careers with the mind- and skill-broadening Business and Professional areas of study. Some students seek to learn about current events, politics, and social trends from the intellectually rigorous perspective of leading scholars. Others wish to spend only a few hours or a day learning about the city in which they live through the Know Your Chicago and the Civic Knowledge Project, participating in lectures addressing poetry, the beauty of science, or the environment. Others pursue hobbies, interests, and passions such as ethnic cuisine, languages, creative writing, or wine tasting. Some students take their endeavors to a higher level and pursue structured certificate programs in Creative Writing, Asian Classics, the Language of Film, the Language of Music, and Western Classics through the Basic Program.

Regardless of their motivation, students come away from University of Chicago Graham School courses enlivened and inspired. Their experience with the ideas and skills offered gives broader meaning to already richly faceted lives. Join the University of Chicago community and become transformed.
